USING INTERIOR DESIGN WITH FENG SHUI TO CREATE THE BEST BEDROOM: INTRODUCTION
In feng shui terms, the bedroom specifically relates to health, healing, relationships and self-development. It is the most private and protected sanctuary in our home where we can retire to rest, relax and rejuvenate. For this reason, the bedroom is all about creating tranquillity to promote relaxation and sleep, so the room’s décor should be calm, quiet and comfortable. Allergies are becoming more and more common so try to use natural materials (except feathers if occupants are allergic to them) where possible as they are less likely to contain chemicals that will off-gas for many years to come.
Bedrooms for the elderly are especially important as this may be their only private space that possibly doubles as living space especially if a lot of their time is spent in bed. Children’s rooms particularly relate to feeling secure, developing social integration skills and having a positive attitude, and as such must be set up to create an optimum environment for their development.
As stated in this series of my blog, consideration should be given to the room’s ventilation, temperature, light and colour, as well the feng shui of the room which concerns the bed and bed directions, and general tips and taboos to avoid. Using interior design in conjunction with feng shui will help you to create the best bedroom for you and your family in your home.
