2011 - PREMIER PEOPLE - DESIGNER AND FRENCH FABRICS COMPANY - AUGUST
South Tipp interior decorator made exclusive Irish agent for French fabrics company
NINA Kati, an interior decorator based near Carrick on Suir, has been chosen by high end French fabrics label Bisson Bruneel as their exclusive Irish agent.
Nina, the owner of award- winning interior design company Working Wonders, will make their range of wallpaper, curtains and blinds and other fabrics available to Irish customers.
Nina secured the deal through trade shows organised by the French embassy, which was facilitating French interiors companies who were interested in working with Irish designers.
At the 2011 trade show, Nina made a connection with the management of Bisson Bruneel, who were exhibiting. She asked them if they were looking for an Irish agent and they immediately offered her the opportunity.
Nina recently returned from training with Bisson Bruneel in France. She underwent training at their head office in Lyon and visited their Paris showrooms. She will begin showing their sample books to architects and interior designers in September.
The fabrics that Bisson Bruneel creates are made to its specifications and the fabrics tend to be drawn from natural sources like cotton and abacca, which is a plant similar to the banana tree that produces a hemp-like material.
Clients of Nina’s interior design business, Working Wonders, will be able to buy fabrics from Bisson Bruneel’s collections, including Les Eternals and Les Naturels, which features entirely natural materials.
Nina is confident that the more contemporary, futuristic designs will appeal to Irish people, particularly women, who will enjoy the element of bling that features in some of the designs.
Nina will also be supplying Bisson Bruneel’s ready-made products, including ready-made curtains and blinds and poles, supplied by UK partner company Silent Gliss.
Bisson Bruneel were commissioned by Louis Vuitton to supply wallpaper to their flagship stores and Nina is delighted to be working with such a prestigious company.
“Their fabrics are simple and timeless, and their ranges almost never expire,” she says. “Many of their fabrics and textiles are made from ecologically sound materials and some are incredibly innovative mixing metals, paper and fibres resulting in some amazing creations.”
Nina celebrates 10 years in business this year and has won numerous awards for her work, including businesswoman of the Year for South Tipperary in 2009.
