RACHEL D (CO WICKLOW)

Unrecognisable! Although not yet complete, this totally new scheme replaces a large sweeping Victorian staircase that had crowded the space and cut across the only available window leaving little room for the swing of the front door. Relocating the entrance in the centre of the hall maximises the newly available space and nicely balances the flow of this area. This feng shui-inspired interior is bright and airing with a lofty feel, and the view to the upstairs gallery area (for the display of original artworks) adds to the spaciousness of this lovely entrance.  Using mainly natural elements helps to create a sense of balance and harmony, and it is these materials that give this scheme a timelessness that makes the space forever attractive and easy to live with. The bespoke designed and custom-made light wood structure with open stair treads and glass panelling was a real feat and includes a curved glass section. The spine of the staircase was specially manufactured with precision by a local engineering firm and made to measure to fit the space exactly. Each length of flooring was hand selected to complement the rest of the scheme and light green was the clients’ colour of choice further enhancing the natural effect.
